I… Got something a little different tonight to share. I was watching my Birdcam tonight and as expected a Raccoon showed up. However, this isn’t the normal Raccoon that I see, this one appears smaller. If you look at this first video, look how the Raccoon uses its hands to eat and find seed. Also compare…  I ran out of time to go anywhere today so I decided to pull out my 1 man chair blind and sit by the bird feeders. The most interesting of the visitors were the Squirrels. First the Squirrel would just lay on the fence making sure it was safe. Then the Squirrel creeps a little… Pleasant surprise tonight while checking the birdcam. Before the Raccoon arrived for its daily dinner, I had a nice little Rat come by for a snack. I thought this was fairly entertaining to watch. Yesterday during the late afternoon I was watching the BirdCam while trying to relax after a day spent working in the yard. Along comes a nice little Squirrel in for an early evening dinner and gets constantly harassed by the Red Winged Blackbirds and Grackles. He jumps… I mentioned a few days ago how I had purchased this new “bird cam.” It’s a super tiny camera that can be used in bird houses, or in my case, aimed at the bird feeder. I should also mention that this camera records in infrared as well. So guess what happened when I was recording…  Only in Texas could you go to Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge and be asked to get back in your car because they were bringing a herd of Cattle through. For some reason, we were out taking pictures today, quietly minding our our business and eating lunch when these Cowboys come through and ask if we…  First day of vacation I decided to head to Kingwood, specifically East End Park. To be a little adventurous, I decided to shlep through these tall grasses. Suddenly, right in front of me a family of Deer appeared. As tall as this grass was, I’m sure they were laying down until they heard me walking…  Didn’t even bother fixing this one because I thought it looked kinda cool. Just a typical Squirrel coming to feed off of the bird feeders. I’m impressed by the detail that the 7D was able to pick up  It’s 5:30, time to feed the Koi and Goldfish in the pond. Did I mention I’ve had a couple of rats that come out at night to eat from the bird feeders? I think I have one less rat now, unless this rat is swimming upside down in my pond. Not sure how he got…  Apologies in advance for being kind of crude, but I couldn’t resist. I think I’ve taken a picture of this Squirrel before, as he has that little nip on his ear. The birds are obviously well fed in my backyard. Apparently so are the Squirrels. I don’t know about you, but to me, this guy… Nothing is safe from my camera. Granted, the pictures may not always turn out that great, but I will at least try to get a snapshot. For example, check out this Rabbit. He thought he was hiding. Cruising down the trail, not two feet from Leecy, stands a small Nine Banded Armadillo. Somehow Leecy didn’t notice this creature as I guess she was looking up, not down. I whisper, STOP, LOOK! This Armadillo then slowly walks back into the woods. I start taking pictures, neither of us saying a word. This small…  I didn’t take these shots, Leecy did, so she gets the credit. Meet “Nippy” (notice the nip on his left ear). This crazy Squirrel must have had some terrible itch! He was itching his stomach for several minutes before another Squirrel came along and chased him off. He’s still itching Maybe he’s not really itching… |
