Yesterday as Leecy and I were driving back from the grocery store, I noticed a large flock of water birds in this pond on Lake Houston. When I say pond, it’s a pond now because of the drought, but…  Here’s a bird I have seen before as they are quite common although I haven’t had one come quite as close as this before. This bird was apparently feeding pretty close to shore and something spooked it and it flew into the Pine Tree right below where I was shooting the Osprey.  Yet another new bird for me, or rather a flock of birds. These are Cedar Waxwings. I saw this flock when I was taking pictures of the American Kestrel. They were pretty far away (these shots are heavily cropped), but still pretty cool to see a whole flock of them.  Another amazing bird I got some pictures of today is the American Kestrel which is the smallest type of Falcon. It was just sitting in a Pine Tree all nice and calm. It posed for lots of pictures and didn’t seem to mind me presence in the least.  Leecy and I went to Quintana yesterday (Saturday) which is supposed to be an excellent birding location, but the weather was terrible. We drove 90 miles (each way) for nothing.
