Leecy Goes Horseback Riding For The First Time

As I mentioned in a previous post, while I had to work on Wednesday, Leecy headed off to Quiet Hill Ranch in Doss Texas (population 225 in year 2000) to go horseback riding for the first time (remember she’s not from Texas like I am). Fortunately, Leecy didn’t fall off the horse and came back […]

Butterflies Found At Country Inn And Cottages

Since Wildseed Farms was suffering the effects of the Texas drought, I was unable to take any pictures of Butterflies feeding on their wildflowers.  That didn’t stop me from looking around Country Inn And Cottages (where Leecy and I went for vacation). One day while Leecy and I were investigating the property looking for Deer […]

Male Peacock Trying To Intimidate Small Kittens

I thought this video was interesting enough that I should post it.  I talked about Leecy’s favorite bird at these Cottages we are staying at is this male Peacock.  Well this Peacock also seems to have a preference for cat food and he’s willing to put on a full display to intimidate these kittens on […]

Texas Longhorn Investigating The Visitors

I’ll admit, this guy scares me although he’s supposed to be rather friendly.  It’s a Texas Longhorn. Any animals that has horns this big, and throws out spit when it is shaking off the flies on its head makes me nervous. I might be the only animal that’s nervous around this big guy as the […]

Birds Of Country Inn And Cottages

There sure are a lot of birds I’ve never seen out here before.  We’re staying at Country Inn and Cottages out in Fredericksburg, Texas.  The one bird I saw today that I was unable to get a picture of was a Summer Tanager.  Maybe I’ll get lucky and get a picture tomorrow. A very common […]

Going On Vacation To Fredericksburg Texas

Leecy and I will be going on vacation to Fredericksburg, Texas.  I plan on revisiting Wildseed Farms. For those that have been reading the blog for a while, you may recall I went to Fredericksburg last year in August.  During that time I took some wonderful pictures (look on the right hand side of the […]

Wildflower Garden

Leecy and I worked pretty hard this weekend on the garden.  I didn’t like the two-in-one Apple tree I had, and I really wanted to plant the Wildflower Seeds I got from Wildseed Farms. Thus, I redesigned two areas.  One area is where the Apple tree was located.  It just had grass below the Apple […]

Queen Butterfly On Blue Mistflower

Before I left Fredericksburg I bought to small Blue Mistflower plants since these seemed to be such Butterfly magnets. I already shared pictures of multiple Queen Butterflies feeding on the Blue Mistflower, but in going through my pictures from the week, I found this particular photo of one Queen Butterfly. Something struck me about this […]

Hummingbirds And Wildflowers

Yesterday I shared pictures of Butterflies among the Wildflowers.  For a change of pace, I thought I would share some pictures I took of the Ruby Throated Hummingbirds among the Wildflowers. Before I share the pictures, let me share how difficult this was.  Trying to get the camera to focus on the Hummingbirds among hundreds […]

Multiple Queen Butterflies In Flight

Once again there were lots and lots of Queen Butterflies.  Today they were not congregated around the “Bubba” Desert Willow, this time there were all around this plant called “Blue Mist” (I think that was the name).  I’m going back tomorrow on my way out of town to get whatever plant this was. Update.  This […]

Queen Butterfly In Flight Through Wildflowers

I went back out today to take more pictures of the Wildflowers.  I figured if I got lucky, I’d get some nice Butterfly shots, and if I really got lucky, I’d get some Hummingbird pictures as well. Well, I got lucky!  These might be some of my most favorite pictures I’ve ever taken. This is […]

Praying Mantis Eating Another Praying Mantis On Sunflower

Here’s something you don’t see every day, or at least I don’t. While I was browsing the field of Sunflowers, I noticed some unusual shape.  Upon closer inspection it turns out it was a Praying Mantis eating another Praying Mantis.
