Category Archives: Blue Dragonfly I couldn’t resist creating some witty title for this picture. Like the recent Butterfly photos, this one is also from Sheldon Reservoir. I’ve never seen such HUGE Dragonflies. When I was preparing to take this photo it looked like the female Dragonfly was looking right at me (as if her head is turned to the...  Although we didn’t see many birds at Armand Bayou, we did see quite a few Turtles (Red Eared Sliders) and Giant Swallowtail Butterflies. If you click on this picture and view it full size, you’ll see there’s a little Blue Dragonfly on one of the plants growing out of the pond. I didn’t notice that... Just a super quick video of a Dragonfly landing on Leecy’s hand. It’s windy outside.  Here’s something new we haven’t tried before, nor have I photographed before. There’s an old Bamboo stick around a bunch of our nectar plants and you can always find a Dragonfly resting there. For whatever reason, Leecy just placed her fingers over the top of the Bamboo stick and sure enough, the Dragonfly just landed...  Allow me to introduce Mr. Whiskers (notice the whiskers around his mouth?). Not sure what kind of Dragonfly this is, but he stayed in the same place for over 30 minutes.  I haven’t researched what kind of Dragonfly this is, but I did notice his blue nose, hence the title of this post:-). Tomorrow I think it’s time for a new book and I was thinking of getting 1 or 2 on Dragonflies, particularly those in Texas. If, by chance anyone has read any of the books below, I sure would be interested in a review. On the other hand, if folks want to tell me I’m crazy...  I guess I haven’t really paid that much attention to Dragonflies in the past. I know they eat bugs, and I know Martins love eating them, but other than that, I can’t say I know a whole bunch. I especially never really paid attention to how big their eyes are in relation to the rest... |
