Carpenter Bee

These guys are all over the place.  I’m not sure what situation(s) (weather, plants, nest) has contributed to these being so prevalent, but there are a ton of them flying around the backyard the last couple of weeks.  From what I read, they build their nests in dead wood, bamboo, or “wood dwellings” (i.e., houses). ...

Bumble Bee On Firecracker Bush

I don’t see many Honeybees lately, but we do have quite a few of these Bumble Bees for some reason.  One plant they apparently love is the Firecracker Bush (Cuphea ignea), along with Hummingbirds and Swallowtails.  If you don’t have this plant, it would sure be a good one to get just for the amount...
