I got the follow up call from the vet today regarding the bacteria that was found when swabbing Coco’s crop (part of a bird’s throat). She tested positive for the following bacteria: Pasteurella (Abundant growth according to test results) Corynebacterium (Moderate growth... Took Coco to the vet today to see if there might be a reason she started the feather plucking. $819.00 dollars later it turns out that Coco has a bacterial infection in her croup (I think that’s how it’s spelled). Treatment is antibacterial medication for 10 days, twice per day. I won’t know until next... No camera talk, but it is something I wanted to ask others about. Coco, our African Grey has started picking her feathers the last 2-3 days. She’s doing this with such intensity that she’s actually making herself bleed a little bit. I know African Grey’s are notorious feather pickers, but Coco has never done this... |
