Giant Swallowtail Chrysalis

Another first!  We’ve seen the Giant Swallowtail adults, we’ve seen the Caterpillars, but we never have been able to find any of the Chrysalises.

Giant Swallowtail..First Time!

Finally!  I’ve never been able to get a clear picture of a Giant Swallowtail up close.  I’ve seen them around over the years and I’ve photographed the Caterpillars, but never was successful with an adult.

Giant Bird Poop

One of the good things (besides the fruit) about fruit trees is that a few of them also act as the host plant for Giant Swallowtails.  See that piece of bird poop?  It’s actually about a week old Giant Swallowtail caterpillar.  This guy also serves as a reminder of my fascination (addiction) with Butterfly gardening.
