Purple Martins vs A Hawk

As of yesterday we had 9 Purple Martins flying around, but it was almost 8.

While the Martins are flying around and chatting, I noticed some type of Hawk land in the tree behind my house.  I remembered thinking this is not going to be good.

No sooner had I said that when  Purple Martin decided to visit the Martin House.  That Hawk in turn, came flying out of the tree right towards the Martin House.  I started waving my arms which I guess gave the Purple Martin enough time to get deep inside the house.  The Hawk left without a meal.

I’m also thinking of adding a second Martin House.  I’ve asked Susan over at PurpleMartins-R-US.com what she recommends.
