I try and put out some meal worms for the Eastern Bluebirds at least a couple times a week. Unfortunately, and frustratingly so, a Mockingbird watches me like a Hawk and either gulps down as many as possible, or chases the Bluebird off before it has a chance to feed. I’ll even run towards the Mockingbird, hangs waving in the air trying to scare it off, and it will not leave the meal worm feeder until the last minute. I’m not sure what to do.
I did manage to photograph the male Bluebird as it was diving down into the food dish.
Soon after he emerged with his prize, a nice fat juicy meal worm:-).
