Juvenile Male Ruby Throated Hummingbird

Although we’ve seen a pair of Ruby Throated Hummingbirds all Spring and Summer, today there was at least 1 extra visitor.  It’s a juvenile male Ruby Throated Hummingbird.

This little guy was not lacking in confidence as he would fly right above my head for moments at a time.  He seemed content on feeding from the Hummingbird feeders, and just resting on different branches and watching Leecy and I.

I can’t imagine this is a migrating Hummer, so perhaps it’s the offspring of the two we have seen all season.  Wherever he came from he sure is a cute little guy!

Don & Kate - Very nice! We’ve only seen confirmed males this year, with a couple possible glimpses of a female. Great pictures!July 22, 2011 – 5:53 am
