Purple Martin Babies Day Sixteen

Well it’s day 16 for the Purple Martin babies in nest one.  I haven’t done a nest check all week because I hear so many of the babies squawking and the parents are bringing food non-stop.  I’m definitely going to do a nest check tomorrow just to make sure the other nests are doing okay.  Hopefully the little ones in nest one don’t try and jump out of the nest.

In nest one, the babies are now beginning to stick their heads out of the nest, and they’re even beginning to chirp a bit like their parents.  They’re getting so big, the parents are no longer just bringing little insects, but full size Dragonflies as well (their favorite food).

This baby seems pretty upset that one of the parents flew away without feeding them.
