Questions For Purple Martin Experts

I have a couple of questions that I’m hoping the Purple Martin experts out there can answer.  As you know from one of my earlier posts tonight we have two nests with babies and both have an egg that didn’t hatch.  I would have thought that one of the parents would remove the unhatched eggs from the nest, but apparently they don’t, or at least they haven’t yet.

Question 1:  Should we remove the unhatched eggs if the parents have not removed them after a few days?

Question 2: This is for Angela who wrote a comment tonight, but I’m curious as well.  If you find an egg in a Martin house and are sure it’s a Purple Martin egg, is it okay to move that egg to a nest that has eggs?

Thank you to anyone (or everyone) who can help answer these two questions.
