While I was feeding the Koi and watering the Maple tree, I noticed this small little snake slithering towards the pond.
It’s a Broad Banded Water Snake, and one of the youngest I’ve ever seen before.
At first I picked up the Snake with my Snake tongs, but since I was feeling a little courageous, I decided to pick it up by hand. Normally these Snakes have a nasty disposition, and I was expecting I would get bit, but this little thing was very calm. Honestly I was hoping it would strike at me so I could experience what it would feel like and then I could have a little more courage when picking up the larger versions of this Snake.
After Leecy took a couple of pictures, I tossed it over the fence. I’m sure it will be back as the Koi Pond is one of the few sources of water nearby.
