I had the opportunity to get a closer look at the recent Ruby Throated Hummingbird that has appeared. He definitely is a mature male. It’s the only Ruby Throat we have right now. He LOVES the Coral Honeysuckle plant. If you look close enough at the picture below, you can see his bill covered in pollen.
Today was a little more challenging than I expected in terms of getting good pictures. Overall, it was a warm, but cloudy day. I was hoping to get a picture of the Hummer with a background of wildflowers, but this bird really wasn’t interested in the wildflowers, just the Coral Honeysuckle.
He would occasionally visit one of the feeders as well. The most disappointing part of my day was discovering that despite my having turned on the Wingscapes Birdcam early in the morning, it didn’t record one single video. I guess I didn’t have the sensitivity high enough. I’ll try again tomorrow with the different settings.
