Cedar Waxwings And House Finch In Sweetgum Tree

I had a nice visitor yesterday that I met from the TexBirds Listserv.  We had hoped to spot the Black Headed Grosbeak I saw last week.  Unfortunately, we didn’t see many birds at all.

I mentioned to Leecy that we did a little hike in the woods behind the house yesterday, so she wanted to check out the area that we explored.  Of course, we did see a few interesting birds, unlike yesterday.  There was a flock of Cedar Waxwings, quite a few Woodpeckers, House Finches, and  a few remaining American Goldfinches.  It was late in the afternoon so the lighting was not perfect, and most of the birds were pretty high in the trees, but the Cedar Waxwings were a definite treat.
