Ruby Throated Hummingbirds Becoming More Territorial

I got a chance to practice taking some additional photos of the migrating Ruby Throated Hummingbirds today.  As best I can tell, we have one mature male, then some younger males and females.  All of them are becoming more territorial around the Hummingbird feeders.

I’m still not terribly pleased with the pictures.  Yea I’m just taking the basic raw pictures, but they have no appealing background to me.  I need to take some time to set up my shots.  I have mixed feelings about doing “staged” shots.  On the one hand, it would certainly make a more visually appealing photograph, but on the other hand it feels, well, “staged.”

I just need to practice more, try different shots and settings and see what happens.  In the meantime, here’s the pictures from today.
