I would have thought the 5 babies in the Martin house would have flown the coop by now. Guess not. The parents are still bringing them insects. I can’t imagine them staying in the nest another week, but then again, I’m not a very good predictor of these type of things.
The one thing I do know is it’s been dang hot lately. Many of the birds rest with open mouths trying to cool down.

PostMuse - I am not one of your Swap-Bot partners, however I do like how you have documented so much wildlife and plants. Beautiful photos, too.
One of my co-workers writes a wonderful bird blog I think you might enjoy. We have a pair of peregrine falcons living in a tower very close to work, and she writes about them frequently. They have lots of babies this year! Her blog is at http://www.wqed.org/birdblog/June 9, 2010 – 3:34 pm
Ana Goncalves - It’s so wonderful to watch nature and it’s animals near home. You are lucky to have a family of purple martins around. I love your captures, they are beautiful. What type of camera do you use? Thanks for visiting my blog.June 9, 2010 – 12:59 pm
