Closeup Of IO Moth Caterpillars

I took out the Macro lens to get some closeup shots of these tiny Spicebush Caterpillars (or so I thought?).

I thought since they were on my Sassafras tree they must be Spicebush Caterpillars?  Could these be some kind of Moth larvae?  The tree is definitely Sassafras.

Would anyone confirm these are IO Moth caterpillars?

UPDATE: Nancy Greig, Curator of Entomology at the Houston Museum of Natural Science was kind enough to reply to my email about what type of Caterpillars these might be.  She also thought these were likely IO Moth Caterpillars.

LeAnn - Were they on a spicebush?
Maybe you will see them again. I have been searching
but have not found anything yet. If I do will let you
know.May 13, 2010 – 10:26 pm

texdr - I’m still not convinced they are Spicebush. I was hoping someone could educate me. The sad part is whatever those cats were are now gone as they chewed that leaf which fell to the ground and now I can’t find it.May 13, 2010 – 9:53 pm

LeAnn - I just released 15 Spicebush butterflies. First time and
they are great. My spicebush cats did not look like these.
Unless they were so tiny I could not see them as good at
this stage.
And they didn’t group together like this.
Keep us updated as they grow.May 13, 2010 – 9:50 pm
