We Have Monarch Chrysalises!

All but one of our “Mexican” Monarch Caterpillars have turned to Chrysalises! (we have a total of 7)

I also wanted to share a close-up macro picture of one of the Chrysalises. The thing that really struck me about this close-up shot are the ridges on that golden band.  It’s really amazing that these Caterpillars can go from that, to something like these Chrysalises.

texdr - There’s hope always. We had 6 out of the 7 Monarchs hatch today. They instantly flew away. Didn’t even pose for any pictures. There were 4 males and 2 femalesMay 2, 2010 – 2:36 pm

Valerie Evanson - Awesome!! After the news of the Mexican winter, there is hope! From the Journey North site, I see the monarchs are about 6-8 hrs. away from where we live in PA.May 2, 2010 – 1:06 pm
