We just received this sad news:
Your Purple Martin suffered a severe fracture at the shoulder and it can’t be repaired. I know how precious these birds are to Purple Martin Landlords and they are precious to us too, but he was in pain and we couldn’t fix his wing.
He could have flown into something to cause that injury. We see it a lot. They are so little so it doesn’t take much to cause damage like that to the wings.
Thanks for caring. We get a lot of Purple Martins. Would you be able to help us re-nest if we get in any babies this season?

So I guess on the bright side, he didn’t suffer long. Also, perhaps we will be able to help re-nest some babies (although we don’t know what’s involved with that yet). Our current Martins are really into the nest building right now.
RIP Peter (Leecy’s name for the Martin)
