Since a few people have asked, I also put together a brief “tour” of my backyard. Lots of plants are just now starting to bloom, but it should give a rough idea what it looks like at the beginning of Spring.
If I can remember, I’ll do another later in the year so you can see the growth (hopefully).

texdr - Thank you Laura Beth for the nice comments!
I didn’t get hit so bad from Ike, but this winter did alot of damage. Everything that was damaged has either come back or I’ve replaced it so everything is in bloom right now.
I haven’t listened to Randy Lemmon, but I do have one of his books. Most of my experience has come from trial and error or the advice I’ve received from Joshua’s Native Plants, Buchanan’s Native Plants, or Wabash Antique and Feed.
I try to update the website a few times a week so feel free to keep checking or you can subscribe so that it will automatically send you an email when the site has an update.
Thanks again for the nice comments!May 16, 2010 – 5:49 pm
Laura Beth Jackson - Wow…what a great way to share your work! I loved all the videos and I am also in Houston. But not the Kingwood area…more the area from urban flight to suburbs, Mission Bend. I have a butterfly garden I started last year when we get more backyard sun after an Ike damaged big tree had to be cut down. I had a ton of monarchs and they ate all the leaves. I saved some in those butterfly popup squares and it got so cool, I had to wait to release them. I love all the areas you have…nice to have suc a big yard. Do you listen to Randy Lemmon on 740am? He has helped us very much in years of gardening. Did you loose very many plants from the big freeze? Thanks for all your work doing this and keep them coming….Laura BethMay 16, 2010 – 11:42 am
texdr - I’m pretty much sticking with Landscapers Pride at this point for soil, mulch, etc. I don’t use any of the brands like from Scott’s and such. I find that soil doesn’t last as long and it’s not native. I pay something like $2.43 per bag at Alspaugh’s in KingwoodMarch 28, 2010 – 9:44 pm
LeAnn - Great videos with good information in them.
