Bird Cam Setup

After posting the video of the Raccoon taken with the bird cam a few folks have asked me about the setup and how the camera works.

Below is a picture of the setup.  The bird cam is mounted on that wooden pole in the left side of the picture.

The camera is not motion activated.  We simply watch what the camera is picking up, and if something appears interesting, I hit record.  It’s actually somewhat relaxing to just watch the TV with the camera running as the background noise of the bird bath is nice to listen to.  When I do record something, it is on a VHS tape, and from there I record it to DVD.  Once it is on the DVD then I load that on my computer and edit the scenes I want.
