Mark the date, March 31, 2010. We confirmed a mature male Ruby Throated Hummingbird. This is our first one for this year. The picture is nothing to write home about, I was simply trying to document that the Hummer was in fact at my window.

Frog, has made his appearance in our pool. That’s one of the nice things about Spring is you get to see if your old regulars return once again. Before I post the pictures, let me share some information that I just recently read… Since a few people have asked, I also put together a brief “tour” of my backyard. Lots of plants are just now starting to bloom, but it should give a rough idea what it looks like at the beginning of Spring. While I’m at it,… Unfortunately I have no picture to back this up, but I was in the backyard this evening watching the Purple Martins and I saw what looked like a Monarch Butterfly riding the wind currents. The Butterfly was very high up so I couldn’t see all the details, but it was orange and black and about…  I ran out of time to go anywhere today so I decided to pull out my 1 man chair blind and sit by the bird feeders. The most interesting of the visitors were the Squirrels. First the Squirrel would just lay on the fence making sure it was safe. Then the Squirrel creeps a little… Pleasant surprise tonight while checking the birdcam. Before the Raccoon arrived for its daily dinner, I had a nice little Rat come by for a snack.
