Red Winged Blackbird

I had two new Backyard Birds appear this weekend.  Unfortunately, I only managed to get a picture of one of them; the Red Winged Blackbird.

These birds are quite noisy compared to some of the other Backyard Birds, but honestly I like the sound.  After hearing nothing but mostly silence for the past month and staring at a bunch of dead wood, it’s nice to see the backyard come to life.

The other new Backyard Bird that came by to visit (but I didn’t manage to get a picture of) was the American Robin.  In looking at my Birds of Texas books, both male and females are feeding at my feeders.

Ramona Ellison - I heard them in my yard last weekend. I love them, they always remind me of seeing them around the ponds back home.
