Monthly Archives: August 2009 A couple pictures showing young Ruby Throated Hummingbirds in flight. One is a young male but I’m not sure about the other. Here’s another  When the Hummers aren’t sipping sugar water, they appear to spend their time keeping watch over the feeders and looking for females. Here’s a young male keeping watch over the feeders.  Apologies in advance for being kind of crude, but I couldn’t resist. I think I’ve taken a picture of this Squirrel before, as he has that little nip on his ear. The birds are obviously well fed in my backyard. Apparently so are the Squirrels. I don’t know about you, but to me, this guy...  Although we’re not seeing any Fritillaries right now, that hasn’t stopped our Passion Vine from flowering like crazy. Here’s a close up shot of one of the flowers. Probably one of the strangest looking flowers there is. If you click on the picture, you can even see the pollen on the flower. |
