Polydamas Triplets

I say triplets, but in reality we had 7 Polydamas hatch today, but 4 of them flew off as soon as I released them.  The remaining 3 I placed on the new plant I bought from Joshua’s Native Plants (Hummingbird Bush).

The first shot is of the “triplets.”

Here’s a shot with the wings spread out.

This last shot I took with my Macro lens.  If you click on the picture to view it full size, you’ll see that these Butterflies are rather hairy and have very long tongues (proboscis).

Leecy - I like this photo –just to actually see all the hairs on the body & legs. I just think “I can make this butterfly in my crafts— its solid black with just some simple red dashes & squiggles”…August 1, 2009 – 12:00 am
